PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, April 24 (PIA) -- The City Council approved the creation of the position of Barangay Children Welfare and Protection Coordinator (BCWPC) in Puerto Princesa City reinforcing its vision to be a Child-Friendly City with healthy, well-educated and protected children.
The ordinance authored by Councilor Modesto Rodriguez will enable the effective and efficient implementation of the provisions of Child Welfare Code of Puerto Princesa City and Republic Act No. 9344 or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006 in the barangay level.
The BCWPC shall keep records, documents and data in relation to children welfare and protection, such as but not limited to, those children in conflict with the law and regularly submit the same to the City Social Welfare and Development Office and other concerned agencies.
It shall facilitate legal action, regularly report and monitor the status and circumstances of children welfare and protection cases within the barangay easing the huge burden and work load from the CSWDO.
The CSWDO will supervise the BCWPC in the 66 barangays and will provide the policies, guidelines, rules and regulations to implement the ordinance.(vsm/pia-palawan)
