PUERTO PRINCESA: The Department of Education’s budget for this year’s Palarong Pambansa nearly reached a hundred million. DepEd will be shelling out P89.2 million for the games proper alone. Add that to the P9.5 million for the transportation and accommodation expenses of the participating regions and the grand total will be P98.7 million.
Imported from Taiwan, air-conditioned and having a seating capacity of 50 persons, the region of Central Visayas provided their own service vehicle that they also used in lugging their portabeds and other supplies for the event.
“Excellent Marking” This was the comment of the Athletic Manager of Region 3 delegation, Mr. Guillermo C. Bognot, on the accommodation given to them by their host school, Francisco Ubay Elementary School for this Palaro. Also he commented that our city mayor was the ‘most hospitable city mayor’ in which the said comment goes also to mayor’s staff.
The CALABARZON delegation is confident enough that their delegation is very well-prepared for the said event just to make a tighter grip on their current standing or to make it climb higher. “We’re strong!” Mr. Rogello Talag, co-chair and transportation officer of CALABARZON, cried out confidently boosting their team spirit.
In order to condition their athletes for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2008, the delegation from Region 1 came to our city last April 11. According to Dr. Danny Sison, Division Supervisor of DepEd in Dagupan City, it is also to ensure the active participation of their athletes for the Palaro.
“It is fast-developing” This was the comment of a second timer tourist here in our city after seeing its present status. Mr. Rogello Talag, transportation officer of the CALABARZON delegation said that this was his second time being here in the city. He also added that the city prepared so much for the Palarong Pambansa ’08.
With six hundred thirty-two athletes and officials, the National Capital Region (NCR) is fully prepared to defend their title as the “Ultimate Champion” of the perennial sports event Palarong Pambansa this upcoming April 20-26, 2008 hosted by Puerto Princesa City.
The Department of Transportation and Communication is Hard put to cool down the airport terminal in Puerto City and fast track its long-awaited expansion as passengers arrive in droves for the summer and the 2008 Palarong Pambansa.

THE curtains are closed but everybody including the athletes heaved a sigh of relief as Puerto Princesa City successfully hosted the 2008 MIMAROPA Regional Meet with a new hope and a lot of promise for a much better exciting big events 8 days from now.
