PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, Feb. 21 (PIA) -- With the growing interest in birdwatching in the province and in Puerto Princesa City, Birdwatch Palawan Ornithological Society is spearheading the 2nd Birdwatching Basics Training for Eco-Tourism on March 15-17 at the Sunlight Guest Hotel this city.

The training aims to orient and equip birding enthusiasts and tourist guides on the basics of birdwatching while promoting responsible birdwatching and avian conservation at the same time.

There will also be discussions on the potential of birdwatching and how to foster it as a new eco-tourism activity in Palawan and Puerto Princesa City with Puerto Princesa Underground River and Rasa Island in Narra as two of the Best Bird Watching Sites in the country.

Birdwatch Palawan Ornithological Society is a group of birdwatchers composed of government employees, non-government workers, conservation professionals, eco-tourism frontliners and other bird lovers in Palawan.

The training is being conducted in cooperation with the City Tourism Office, provincial office of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff, Eco-Education and Recources Center – Hongkong, Sunlight Guest Hotel, and the Center for Recreation, Eco-Adventure, Travel and Entertainment.

The three-day training will include lectures, workshops, birding watching activities, Basic Wildlife Photography, and Digiscoping sessions.
