Inauguration of PPUR as New 7 Wonders of Nature set

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, April 18 (PIA) -- The official announcement and formal inauguration of the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature is set on April 21 with the participation of President Benigno Aquino III as the Keynote Speaker.

Bruce Weber, founder of the New 7 Wonders international campaign will officially make the declaration of the PPUR as one of the winners of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

Joining Weber in this event are the country representatives of the other 6 winners – Ha Long Bay of Vietnam, Iguazu Falls of Argentina and Brazil, Jeju Island of South Korea, Table Mountain of South Africa, Komodo Dragon National Park of Indonesia, and the Amazon.

The inauguration will culminate with the unveiling of the New 7 Wonders of Nature Marker to be led by President Aquino with DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez Jr., DENR Secreatry Ramon Paje, and Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn.

The event promises to be a grand one, with various musical, theatre, dance, and alternative media artists performing selected for their strong advocacies for the environment and Filipino pride. Luis Manzano and Dingdong Dantes will host the event with TV personality and radio DJ Grace Lee and Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 winner Venus Raj. (LBR/VSM/PIA-Palawan)
