PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, Jan. 2 (PIA) -- As part of its nationwide search for Filipino scholars, the Norwegian Training Center is now accepting online application for scholarship programs for marine transportation and marine engineering.

The scholarship program provides opportunities for poor but deserving Filipino youth to pursue quality maritime education, and become competitive seafarers in the international maritime market.

The scholarship program, sponsored by the Norwegian Shipowners Association under its Philippine Cadet Program, is open to all natural born Filipinos aged 16 to 22 years old, physically and mentally fit, single, with no derogatory records or was convicted/accused of any crime or moral turpitude. Applicants should pass written and oral examinations by the institution. The scholarship comes with free board and lodging.

Successful applicants will undergo a 2-1-1 program or two years in school–1 year seatime-1 year in school program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation or Marine Engineering.

Graduates of the program will have a sure career at sea to be employed by the sponsor and will have opportunities to travel worldwide.

The Project & Development Department of the Norwegian Training Center will visit Palawan this month for the conduct of the oral and written examinations of applicants.
