PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, 27 Jan. (PIA) -- The city government of Puerto Princesa is eying the takeover of the management of the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC) popularly known as the Crocodile Farm Institute located in Barangay Irawan, Puerto Princesa City.
This was revealed by Vice Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron in the recent session of the Sangguniang Panlunsod . He said that the city government is interested in the management of the PWRCC because this would complement the intensified campaign of the tourism sector.
The PWRCC is one of the tourist spots included in the city package tour offered by the different travel tours and agencies.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is now managing the operations of the PWRCC which is a showcase of the conservation project of the government. The farm breeds two endangered Philippine crocodile species found in sea and fresh water. It is also the refuge for animals rescued from persons caught smuggling endemic species out of the province.
