Puerto Princesa City (6 December) -- For the first time in Palawan, an environmental youth group made it to the national finals of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organization (TAYO).
The Palawan Conservation Corps (PCC) was chosen as one of the Top 5 for Luzon competing against representatives coming from 15 provinces. The five Luzon finalists will then compete against 15 other finalists from the National Capital Region, the Visayan region, and Mindanao. Among the 20 finalists, a panel of judges will select only ten outstanding groups to the official 2010 TAYO awardees.
According to Gelay Camaneg, one of the representatives of PCC, the deliberation for the Top 5 in Luzon was a long process which was held in Makati City last month.
She said that PCC scored high in networking and partnership and the unique strategies of their OSY program. The City Government is a strong benefactor and partner of PCC since 1999.
TAYO is a project of Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan and spearheaded by Paolo Benigno A. Aquino IV, president of TAYO Awards Foundation Incorporated, and Christopher Lawrence Amuco, Chairman and CEO of the National Youth Commission.
The finals is scheduled tomorrow, December 7 and the announcement will be held at the Malacañang Palace.
