PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, January 9 (PIA) -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) - Palawan branch exceeded its target by 7.73 percent collecting a total of P54.06 million from registration, licensing and law enforcement fees in 2011.

Antonia dela Cruz, officer-in-charge of LTO-Palawan said a large portion of the revenues collected came from the registration of 37,314 motor vehicles, which was at 78.8 percent or P42.64 million.

Licensing collected a total of P10.25 million in 2011 which is an increase of 10.34 percent compared to 2010's 9.29 million.

De la Cruz said that the agency was able to surpass its performance target as a result of its computerized transaction and efficient collection methods.

She said that the conduct of the LTO mobile transactions outside of Puerto Princesa City also helped and the agency will continue to undertake it in 2012.

For 2011, she said their branch targeted to collect only P49.8 million but they managed to surpass this and collect P54.06 million at the end of 2011. It is an increase of P5.63 million or 11.63 percent compared to the 2010 revenue collection.

There were a total of 10,980 licenses issued and released in 2011, registering an increase of 2,176 or 24.72 percent compared to 8,804 in 2010.

De la Cruz is targeting another increase in revenue collection in 2012 due to the increase in the number of motor vehicles coming from Metro Manila. (TBO/VSM/PIA-Palawan)
