THE department heads and chiefs of offices of the City Government of Puerto Princesa will be attending a one-day orientation-seminar-workshop on three major laws on Anti-Corruption to be conducted by the Transparency International Philippines on August 24, 2010 at the Asturias Hotel.

TI-Philippines believes that best practices abound in the City Hall’s offices, they would like to document it as a positive approach in addressing some practices vulnerable to corruption.

“We will compile and showcase Puerto Princesa City’s initiative and publish it as a possible pattern of reforms in the implementation of anti-corruption laws and programs,” TI-Philippines said in their letter to Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn.

The three major laws that would be covered will be the Anti-Graft Practices Act (RA 3019); Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Officials and Employees (RA 6713); and the Anti-Red Tape Act (RA 9485). The seminar aims to raise awareness for transparency and a better society through active participation of local government units.
