With six hundred thirty-two athletes and officials, the National Capital Region (NCR) is fully prepared to defend their title as the “Ultimate Champion” of the perennial sports event Palarong Pambansa this upcoming April 20-26, 2008 hosted by Puerto Princesa City.
Year-round trainings, inclusion of sports into their basic curriculum, spotting star players from grade 3 up to secondary level all over their region and monitoring all the selected best players to represent their region was the preparations done by the NCR for this year’s Palaro.

The Department of Transportation and Communication is Hard put to cool down the airport terminal in Puerto City and fast track its long-awaited expansion as passengers arrive in droves for the summer and the 2008 Palarong Pambansa.

Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn said airline passengers had been complaining of the intense heat at the terminal which has resulted in one death.

Hagedorn said he visited the airport on Saturday and it was much hotter inside than outside like an “oven”.

Thus, Clarisse Faith Layacan combined sports talent and beauty to become Miss MIMAROPA Meet 2008 in a fitting pageant competition, Tuesday night at the Mendoza Park Amphitheater in Barangay Model.
She kept her poise all-throughout when the judges announced the verdict giving the shy 15-year-old swimming multi-medalist the task to represent Region IV-B in the forthcoming search for 2008 Palarong Pambansa barely 9 days from now.

Oriental Mindoro bagged the last semi-final slot in volleyball (boys, secondary) against Occidental Mindoro, having two sets won in a row, 25-18 and 25-17 at the Ramon Mitra, Jr. Sports Complex, April 9.
While the spikers from the west had exhibited their effective offenses, the eastern team was busy to figure out how to outmaneuver it, but despite their efforts, Oriental emerged victorious. The latter would be facing Palawan blockers in the final game, April 10.

Homegrown talents, Francisco Santos III and Andre Alagao fought like two small but deadly Princesans in the championship event with Santos raising a head higher, 8-1.

Through the efforts of the City Information Office headed by former City Councilor Alroben Goh, the website, powered by Bodega Site, took less than ten days in construction and now caters the MRAA participants and the whole world information regarding what is up beat in the city.
