DAVAO CITY, Apr. 19 (PIA) –- The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) intends to upgrade the capability of airports in the country based on volume of air traffic demands, a DOTC official said Wednesday.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Dec. 9 (PIA) -- Actual construction of the new Puerto Princesa Airport Terminal building will begin by the first half of next year, Socio-Economic Planning secretary Cayetano Paderanga announced yesterday.

Paderanga said the feasibility study is now being undertaken by Price Waterhouse and Cooper International and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, 28 June (PIA) -- Barely two years from the inauguration of the existing airport terminal, the Puerto Princesa Airport is up for another rehabilitation and improvement under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Program of the Aquino administration.

Mayor Edward Hagedorn Tuesday said the expansion of the city’s airport will be completed in 2010.

The expansion, which will cost P3.2 billion, will be funded out of royalties from the Malampaya Gas Reservoir located in northern Palawan.

The Department of Transportation and Communication is Hard put to cool down the airport terminal in Puerto City and fast track its long-awaited expansion as passengers arrive in droves for the summer and the 2008 Palarong Pambansa.

Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn said airline passengers had been complaining of the intense heat at the terminal which has resulted in one death.

Hagedorn said he visited the airport on Saturday and it was much hotter inside than outside like an “oven”.
