MAYOR BAYRON WELCOMES TOURISM INTERNS FROM LPU-BATANGAS

Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron welcomed 14 graduating BS Tourism students from Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU)–Batangas during a courtesy call today, October 12, 2026, along with two students from Luzviminda National High School who will undergo work immersion.

The LPU-Batangas students comprise the university’s fifth batch of interns in the city since 2024. Their 600-hour on-the-job training began on October 8 and will run until December 4, 2026. They will rotate among tourism divisions, gain experience in tourism operations, and join field activities.

During the visit, Mayor Bayron discussed the city’s efforts to expand its tourism offerings through events, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE), cruise tourism, and sports tourism.

He highlighted the Subaraw Biodiversity Festival and Balayong Festival as opportunities to showcase Puerto Princesa’s natural attractions and draw more visitors, encouraging the students to take part in local events to better understand their role in tourism development.

Mayor Bayron wished the interns from LPU-Batangas success in their training, expressing hope that the knowledge and skills they gain in Puerto Princesa will help them contribute to tourism development in Batangas.
