A second batch of delegates from the Municipality of Malilipot, Albay, composed of 20 barangay officials, visited the City Government of Puerto Princesa yesterday, July 2, 2026, as part of their benchmarking activity aimed at learning from the city’s governance and development initiatives.
The delegation was welcomed by City Administrator Atty. Arnel Pedrosa, who presented an overview of Puerto Princesa City’s growth and development, highlighting its programs on tourism, agriculture, environmental protection, health services, peace and order, and the establishment of Mini City Halls that bring government services closer to communities.
Atty. Pedrosa also shared the city’s strategic development efforts, rich natural resources, thriving tourism industry, and initiatives that have contributed to Puerto Princesa’s continued progress and resilience, including its minimal exposure to strong typhoons.
During the discussion, the delegates raised questions on the city’s tourism initiatives and solid waste management programs and expressed admiration for Puerto Princesa City’s cleanliness, environmental stewardship, and balanced approach to development. They likewise conveyed their intention to learn from and possibly adapt some of the city’s best practices in their respective communities.
The benchmarking activity forms part of the Municipality of Malilipot’s efforts to strengthen local governance and gain valuable insights from successful programs implemented by other local government units.
The first batch of delegates from Malilipot, Albay, composed of 52 barangay officials, arrived in Puerto Princesa on June 25, 2026, and was welcomed by Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron during a courtesy call at the City Mayor’s Office.
The continuing visits from local government officials from Albay further underscore Puerto Princesa City’s growing reputation as a preferred benchmarking destination for local government units seeking to learn from its best practices in governance, environmental conservation, tourism development, and public service delivery.
