
British Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Sarah Hulton OBE paid a courtesy call on Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron today, July 29, 2026.
“You’ve given us the warmest of welcome. That was really special. Thank you so much for taking time for this wonderful hospitality,” Hulton said to Mayor Bayron.
During the meeting, Mayor Bayron and Ambassador Hulton discussed the city’s development priorities, with particular focus on sustainable tourism, environmental protection, good governance, and opportunities to further strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and Puerto Princesa City.
Ambassador Hulton also highlighted the postgraduate scholarship and higher education opportunities in the United Kingdom for Puerto Princesans who wish to pursue advanced studies. She expressed her hope of expanding educational and capacity-building partnerships that will benefit aspiring professionals and future leaders here in the city.
Mayor Bayron welcomed the Ambassador’s visit and underscored the importance of building strong international relationships that open doors for Puerto Princesans.
“Your Excellency, could you please send us a letter providing more information about the possibility of sending (postgraduate) scholars to the United Kingdom for scholarship? We would appreciate receiving more information on the program,” Mayor Bayron requested.
The courtesy call reflects Puerto Princesa’s continuing commitment to fostering meaningful global partnerships that contribute to the city’s growth while creating opportunities for its people.
Also present during the courtesy visit meeting were City Tourism Officer Demetrio Alvior Jr. & representatives from the City Tourism Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Atty. Carlo Gomez, City Planning and Development Coordinator Engr. Jovenee Sagun, City Agriculturist Melissa Macasaet, City Administrator Atty. Arnel Pedrosa and
Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) President Laddy Gemang.
