PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, Jan.30 (PIA) -- The Alyansa ng Palaweñong Mamamahayag, Inc. (Alliance of Palawan Journalists, Inc., APAMAI) voted its new president this weekend in its first election since its incorporation in 2009.

Edgardo Javarez, program director of RGMA-Super Radyo DYSP was elected president by the local media who came in full force for the general assembly and election. Javarez succeeds Damian Lacasa, reporter of Radyo ng Bayan.

The newly-elected Board of Directors to serve a two-year term are Jeffrey Quilog of UNTV/Go Palawan newspaper as Vice-President, Katherine Santos of Puerto Princesa Water District as Secretary, and Ludy Bello of RGMA-Super Radyo as Treasurer.

APAMAI is the new local media group that is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and is a spin-off of the Palawan Press Club. The new set of officers will assume their post as soon as they are inducted into office next month.

At present, there are 16 media entities representing television, radio, and print media in Puerto Princesa City.
