Renowned Filipino historian and public historian Dr. Michael Charleston “Xiao” Chua paid a courtesy call to Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron today, April 22, 2026, at the City Mayor’s Office.
Dr. Chua is widely known for his work in promoting Philippine history through various platforms, including television, lectures, and academic engagements. He currently serves as an Associate Professor at De La Salle University and is recognized for making history more accessible and engaging to the public.
The visit coincided with his scheduled lecture at Western Philippines University in connection with the 81st Salute to Valor: Palawan Liberation Symposium, where he is set to share insights on Philippine history and heritage, including the role of Palawan in the Filipino fight for freedom.
The brief meeting served as an opportunity for Dr. Chua to meet Mayor Bayron and personally express his appreciation.
“Welcome to Puerto Princesa. Thank you for visiting us,” Mayor Bayron said.
Dr. Chua likewise expressed his gratitude to the Mayor for the warm reception during his visit.
