MAYOR BAYRON ASKS BARANGAY CHIEFS TO JOIN FORCES FOR SUBARAW BIODIVERSITY FESTIVAL 2026

Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron urged barangay chiefs to join forces in preparing for the Subaraw Biodiversity Festival 2026, which will be held this November in Puerto Princesa City.

In a coordination meeting at the City Mayor’s Office led by Assistant Administrator and City Events Head Carlo Abogado, Mayor Bayron discussed with the barangay chiefs their participation in the festival and the preparation of barangay clusters.

“Let us work together, let us strive this year. … The best we can do is to give it our all,” said Mayor Bayron.

According to Mayor Bayron, there is an opportunity for the Subaraw Biodiversity Festival to become a success like other festivals in the country that attract tourists. He emphasized that the celebration should be enhanced by increasing the number of tourists visiting the city, as well as by strengthening events tourism, where visitors come to participate or watch activities.

To achieve this, the mayor said that time, effort, and funds need to be allocated, and that each cluster should prepare well for the event.

“The festival is not just about participating in competitions, it is about investing in the future,” said Mayor Bayron.

He also reminded the barangay chiefs that support for the festival should not end with participation in competitions. It is also important to attend and watch to make the activities more lively and to encourage others to join.

Among the planned activities are the Subaraw Festival 2026 grand opening at the City Coliseum, Drum and Lyre competitions, National Hiphop Dance Competition, Subaraw Festival Queen 2026, Grand Biodiversity Parade, headdress and float competitions, and the Subaraw Dance Competition.

The mayor also discussed the preparation of barangay clusters and other preparations for the celebration.
