Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron met with representatives of the International Wheelchair Foundation–Palawan Chapter during a courtesy call at the Office of the City Mayor to discuss possible programs and collaborations for the benefit of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Puerto Princesa City.
Under the leadership of Provincial Director Joji C. Umpacan, the organization introduced their mission to improve the quality of life of PWDs through mobility assistance and various community-based programs.
“It is good that you register this as a Civil Society Organization in the Council,” advised Mayor Bayron, who praised their advocacy, which he said is part of the responsive and inclusive governance being promoted by the Puerto Princesa City Government.
The meeting also discussed possible partnerships and programs that could be implemented in collaboration with the City Government to further promote accessibility, inclusivity, and the well-being of PWDs and other vulnerable sectors in Puerto Princesa.
“The focus of our assistance is on Senior Citizens, PWDs, and Indigenous People. We plan to conduct a medical mission and also distribute free walkers and wheelchairs,” said Provincial Director Joji C. Umpacan.
The International Wheelchair Foundation–Palawan Chapter expressed gratitude for the opportunity to introduce their organization and share their programs, while the City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Bayron, reaffirmed its continued support for initiatives promoting welfare and inclusive development for all residents of Puerto Princesa.
