The new Macarascas Mini City Hall and Rural Service Center is now formally opened and ready to provide better services after the inauguration and commissioning yesterday, July 7, 2026.
The facility is expected to be of great benefit not only to the residents of Barangay Macarascas but also to other barangays in the northwestern part of Puerto Princesa, through easier access to basic services of the local government.
Mayor Lucilo R. emphasized in his message at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Bayron wants to give equal opportunities to rural barangays to keep up with the city’s development.
“Since I became Mayor, I have clearly and visibly seen the situation of rural barangays compared to urban barangays—it’s so far indeed.” We want to be given a chance to rural barangays to rise because our dream is for a progressive Puerto Princesa that no one will be left behind,” Mayor Bayron said.
The mayor also gave an important message to Macarascas Mini City Hall Deputy Mayor Richard Ferrer in relation to the quality of service that should be delivered to the people.
“As you see the quality of service being provided to the town, your service should be the same or more to inspire the citizens here to rise up and let us be progressive together,” the mayor added.
Deputy Mayor Ferrer shared that the operation of Macarascas Mini City Hall started on September 5, 2019. According to him, the new building symbolizes a greater responsibility of service.
“Now we have a big and beautiful City Hall.” To my colleagues, our house is bigger. It means, the effort we were making before, we should double it,” said Ferrer.
The leadership of Barangay Macarascas also expressed their sincere gratitude for the project that will bring the services of the city government closer to their community.
Chiefs and representatives of the Office of the City Engineer, City Architect’s Office, barangay officials, youth leaders, and other stakeholders attended the inauguration.
In the short program, City Architect Honesto Teves also explained the design of Mini City Hall which is a modern classic design to make clients comfortable and also made the building climate-resilient to ensure its durability and readiness in various calamities.
The new Macarascas Mini City Hall and Rural Service Center is a testament to the continued progress of Mayor Lucilo R. administration. Fee of inclusive and responsive governance, where basic services are brought closer to the citizens in faraway barangays.
