Mayor of Puerto Princesa City, Lucilo R. Bayron, announced that the digital payment system will be implemented for the distribution of allowances to senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and solo parents starting from the fourth quarter of 2026.
Mayor Bayron made the announcement during the third quarter’s final face-to-face distribution of allowances on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, 2026, as a preparation for a faster and more efficient payout system, especially with the planned increase in the allowance to ₱6,000 per quarter by 2027.
According to Mayor Bayron, it is essential to test the digital system this year to identify and resolve any possible problems before implementing the higher allowance next year.
“The goal is to have a bank account and ATM card for each beneficiary under the Development Bank of the Philippine, where their allowance will be directly deposited,” said Mayor Bayron.
The mayor also shared that the digital payout of the Student Assistance Program has been tested, and although there are still some accounts being processed, the initial implementation has been successful.
For the 4th quarter, the City Government aims to release the allowance on November 7 and 8, 2026, encouraging officials to submit the necessary documents early to ensure sufficient time for processing.
Meanwhile, the City Mayor’s Office will register beneficiaries at the barangays to register their bank accounts and ATM cards.
Each beneficiary must personally appear as part of the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirement of the bank. There will be separate schedules for senior citizens, PWDs, and solo parents to ensure an organized process.
For registration, senior citizens must bring their Senior Citizen ID, PWD ID for PWD beneficiaries, and any valid government-issued ID for solo parents.
The City Mayor’s Office will release an official announcement through barangays regarding the exact schedule, time, and location of registration. Beneficiaries are advised to wait for the said announcement and not go to the registration site without a schedule provided to avoid confusion and crowds.
City Mayor’s Office also emphasized the importance of each beneficiary attending the designated schedule as their account number is required to complete the digital payout.
By early transition to the digital system this 4th quarter, Mayor Bayron’s administration aims to expedite and improve the delivery of programs and services of the City Government to Puerto Princesa.
