PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, Feb. 8 (PIA) -- The first Tourism Summit of Puerto Princesa City scheduled over the weekend will advance the local industry’s three-point agenda setting its standards, private – public partnership, and code of ethics for development of a long-term and sustainable tourism.

 

The city government is hosting this summit to gather all stakeholders in the tourism industry in preparation for its robust growth.

 

About 500 participants are expected to attend at the City Coliseum.

 

Invited as the guest of honor is Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez Jr. who is expected to talk about DOT’s latest campaign of “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”

 

On the first day of the summit, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn F. Garcia will present The Cebu Experience, to be followed by a talk and presentation of Bohol Gov. Edgardo M. Chato on Following Standards and Importance of Accreditation.

 

Speakers and presentations on the second day include City Councilor Erwin Edualino on the New City tourism irdinance, DOT Region IV Director Louella C. Jurilla on the DOT development plan, Tourism officer. Rebecca V. Labit on the city tourism situationer, and Architect Felino A. Palafox Jr. on green tourism. 

 

There will be breakout meetings to discuss and deliberate on the Three-Point Agenda such as Standards and Regulations, Strengthening Private and Public Partnerships and Code of Ethics for PPC Tourism Industry.

 

The third day of the summit is plenary for the breakout meetings of the three groups covenant signing, and the presentation of the “New Tourism Product for Puerto Princesa 2012.” (VSM/PIA-Palawan)
