SM celebrates anniversary by showcasing City

Supporting the Underground River as RP’s bet to the 7 New Wonders of Nature

PREPARATIONS are underway for the relaunching of “Underground River” as the country’s bet to the New Seven Wonders of Nature search as part of the anniversary celebration of the giant mall chain, SM Supermalls.

City Tourism Officer Rebecca V. Labit said the activity aims to gather votes that would once again bring the Underground River as the country’s official candidate to another round of the global voting of the new world wonder search.

According to Labit, SM’s bigwig Henry Sy had offered Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn to showcase Puerto Princesa City at One Esplanade in Pasay City on August 31, 2010. One Esplanade is Manila’s new definitive and stylish social venue owned by Sy.

“We have invited foreign ambassadors, officials from DFA, DOT and DILG, and VIPs to this event so that they will be able to witness our showcasing of the Underground River as the country’s bet to the Search for the 7 New Wonders of Nature, and to ‘sell’ Puerto Princesa City as a destination. Online text-voting will also be launched then,” Labit said.

The red-carpet event is expected to gather a well-dressed audience that includes diplomats, a sprinkling of entertainment and fashion celebrities, Philippine business tycoons, and local political and church leaders.
