WITH A tremendous guts and exemplary act, Peacock’s lady tennis players emerged champions after battling over Palawan at the championship doubles for secondary at Socrates Tennis Court in Palawan National School Compound, April 9.

April Santos and Cherry Mae Gilongos of Puerto Princesa are this year’s regional meet’s gold medalists for the event while their last opponents, Krystyll Oyan Orpilla and Cyril Garadom of Palawan got the silver medals.

The teams both started slowly as they ran in maze of turn overs in the opening salvo then Santos and Gilongos sealed the match, grasped the lead and blasted the score of 4-0 first set.

Embolden by the first set to win, Santos and Gilongos callous since beginning, combined skills and wits to give the team a breather with seven against one point of their opponent.

The two rivals exchanged booming shots and kills to delight the crowd.

Santos and Gilongos heated the court as they dashed dizzying the shots, leaving Orpilla and Garado gasping for breath, 8-1 in the third set.

They did not give their opponents even a single opportunity to seize the crown, instead preferred to seal the score for their victory.

“If you want to succeed in your career, you must have to train very hard to accomplish it and always pray to God that He will guide you to reach your dreams,” Gilongos and Santos inspirational message for all aspiring winners.
