PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, March 9 (PIA) -- A new state-of-the-art City Hall and Convention Center adopting the concept of green architecture will soon rise in this city.
The conceptual design for the new City Hall and Convention Center was rendered by Danilo A. Silvestre & Associates and will rise on a hill near the existing city hall.
With a budget of P742 million, the entire complex will include a 3,000 capacity convention center and a four-storey city hall building with its own water treatment facility, solar panels, roof garden, helipad, generator and power supply accessories, fire-fighting facility, and the furniture and furnishings of the 2 structures.
City Administrator Agustin Rocamora said the design allows for the use of the natural light of the sun and good quality of air indoors providing energy efficiency, and less use of non-biodegradable materials.
He said the design follows the natural topography and contour of the hill reducing the negative impact on the environment.
Construction is estimated at 18 months. The existing city hall which is also on a hill overlooking Puerto Princesa Bay was constructed in the late 80s under the leadership of then City Mayor Feliberto Oliveros. (VSM/TBO/PIA-Palawan)
