PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, 14 March (PIA) -- The campaign for votes for the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP) in the New 7 Wonders of Nature goes to Malaysia coinciding with the participation of the city government in the BIMP-EAGA Expo held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
The campaign for the PPSRNP is headed by Ms. Rebecca Labit of the City Tourism Office with the support of the City Tourism Council. The booth of the city government is a promotion in itself which features the cave entrance of the PPSRNP. It also provides computer for visitors to vote online for PPSRNP, the country’s only entry to the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
There are about 30,000 people expected to visit the 2011 BIMP-EAGA Expo held at the Sabah Trade Centre. Apart from the participants and delegations from the four member countries, there are also participation from the Northern Territory and Perth of Australia.
There are two finalists located in the BIMP-EAGA region to the New 7 Wonders of Nature – Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, most popularly known as Underground River and the Komodo National Park located in Indonesia.
The City Tourism Office plans to visit other cities within the BIMP-EAGA and ASEAN region to campaign for the PPSRNP. (vsmendoza/pia-palawan)
