Puerto Princesa City (12 November) -- The City Council of Puerto Princesa is banning cyber pornography and cyber prostitutions as it amended ordinance 200-2002 regulating the operation of computer game shops, and parlors, internet cafes and funhouses in the city.
According to Councilor Luis Marcaida III, author of the said ordinance, it aims to prepare the city and its constituents on distracting form of exploitations and related crimes brought by improper use of internet technology.
Marcaida said that through the internet, even minor children can access pornographic sites that would influence them psychologically.
Under the amended ordinance, those who would violate the ordinance and engage in cyber pornography and prostitution will be fined P5,000, revocation of business permit and license to operate, and criminal charges shall be filed for which the penalty in one year imprisonment.
The ordinance likewise prohibits the admission of minor or students during school hours without any legal permission of the school teachers, parents and guardian. Those who will be found to violate this shall be fined P3,000 for the first offense; P4,000 for second offense and P5,000 for the third offense and automatic revocation of business license and permit and six months imprisonment. The owner and operator and the minor student shall also undergo guidance counseling for one day. (PIA)
