PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, March 12 (PIA) -- The Naval Forces West (NAVFORWEST) was adjudged as the Cleanest and the Greenest among the military and PNP camps last March 3, 2012 by the city government of Puerto Princesa.

This is in line with the annual competition among government and non-government institutions and facilities which focus on the Oplan Linis Program of the city.

As one of the military camps in Puerto Princesa City, NAVFORWEST regularly conducts beautification and camp-greening projects to suit the image of Puerto Princesa City as the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines.

Clean-up drives, planting of fruit-bearing trees and ornamental plants, and waste segregation are among the regular activities of NAVFORWEST making the camps environment-friendly.

NAVFORWEST also participates in the City’s tree and mangrove planting activities, coastal clean-ups and other environmental protection activities.

The award was received by the Deputy Commander of NAVFORWEST, Capt. Giovvanni Carlo J. Bacordon, PN (GSC), in behalf of the Commander, Naval Forces West, with Maj. Ereneo G. Paiton PN (M), the Commanding Officer of Naval Station Carlito Cunanan.  (6CRG/OCJ-PIA4B-Palawan)
