Twelve-year-old Venjay Lacondazo of Ilocos Tuesday bested 33 other contenders to snatch the gold in the elementary boys’ division at the RVM Sports Complex.

Lacondazo and Norman Nano of Calabarzon registered identical 5.36 meters but officials gave the Ilocos boy the gold based on a better average. Richmar Villaluz of Western Visayas with 5.29 meters settled for third.

The jubilant Venjay said he is dedicating his victory to his parents, whio have served as his inspiration in competitions.

“Aside from the rigid training that he had, Venjay is very determined to win, that’s why he really deserves the gold medal,” said his mentor, Gilbert Cayaban.

Central Luzon’s Michael Calayo,meanwhile, leapt 6.98 meters to win the secondary boys’ long jump gold Monday.
