NCR archer Marie Francisca Cabral Wednesday leapfrogged from fourth place last year to this year’s gold medal position in secondary girls’ archery.

Her triumph came at the expense of teammate Charise Villanueva in the individual category, Olympic round who finished second with Jode-An Guido of Central Visayas taking the bronze.

Cabral’s win came in the 30-m, 50-m, half fita and overall half-fita round and Olympics rounds.

“I’m very proud of my athletes,” said Crispin Gimena, coach of the two highest-ranked NCR contenders.

Confident that his wards will most likely represent the country in future bigger events, the coach said that they have bright prospects in their sport with the discipline and dedication they have shown.
