2008 - Sports Year for Puerto Princesa City

This early, different sectors involved in sports are already busy preparing for 2 big events in Puerto Princesa City sports - the 2008 MIMAROPA meet and the 2008 Palarong Pambansa.

After several tries to get to host the Palarong Pambansa, Puerto Princesa City finally bagged the coveted hosting honor for next year. The last time a big sporting activity was held here was the Batang Pinoy 2002 edition.

With this two big events, tourism will surely once again flourish next year especially with the Palarong Pambansa to be held in April, the month that tourist arrival here is at its peak.

Renovations and repairs of the Puerto Princesa-Palawan Sports Complex have started as early as next week especially with the rubberized tracks. Other preparations have also been started as different committees have also been formed to take charge of different preparations.
