as the Top 10 Finalists of the New 7 Wonders of Nature are revealed

MANILA, Nov. 7 -- As the competition gets intense with only 4 days left, the Puerto Princesa Underground River tops among the 28 entries vying for the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Both the local and global voting community enlisted the Pinoy natural wonder in the top 10 finalists alongside (in alphabetical order) the Dead Sea, the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, Halong Bay, Jeita Grotto, Jeju Island, Komodo Island, Sundarbans and Vesuvius.

According to Bernard Weber, President and Founder of New7Wonders, “Clearly Asian Finalists are strong at this stage, reflecting the way the world is evolving east, and at the same time I know the actual top 7 will change in the coming days. We remain excited and intrigued to see who will emerge as the provisional New7Wonders of Nature on 11/11/11.”

The Puerto Princesa Underground River is the longest navigable underground river in the world. The latest discovery of a sea cow fossil that lived about 20 million years ago only proved the intense value the Puerto Princesa Underground River offers.

Days before voting ends, Filipinos unite to help the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) clinch a spot in the top 7. Different celebrities and personalities such as Christian Bautista, Lourd de Veyra, Tado, Ogie Alcasid, Diether Ocampo, Karylle, Dingdong Dantes, Yeng Constantino, Nina, Rhian Ramos, Jim Paredes, Jericho Rosales, Kate Torralba, Risa Hontiveros, and Chiz Escudero have been advocating and helping in the Wunderground United campaign. Wunderground United, spearheaded by Noel Cabangon, is a movement actively campaigning for the Puerto Princesa Underground River to be part of the New 7 Wonders of Nature through concerts, school tours, and social media.

Tunog Wunderground, a music festival in support of the Puerto Princesa Underground River - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Finalist of the New 7 Wonders of Nature - was launched last June 5 at the Quezon City Circle and toured different universities in Metro Manila. The last leg of the series of concerts will feature voting centers to encourage more people to vote online and through text.

The series of music festivals will continue on Nov. 9 (Metrowalk) with Radioactive Sago Project, Up Dharma Down, Rivermaya, Sabado Boys, and Sitti. The culminating event will be on November 10, at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall with Franco, Nina, Aiza Seguerra, and Noel Cabangon.

It’s time show the world that Pinoy pride runs deep. Text PPUR to 2861 now! Voting ends on November 10, 2011.
