PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, Jan. 13 (PIA) -- Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala is set to inaugurate on January 17 the Iwahig-Balsahan Irrigation Project, a P34 million restoration project of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) inside the Iwahig Penal Colony this city.

The said project will irrigate about 414 hectares of farmland and assures a year-round supply of water in the entire compound of Iwahig.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Nov. 21 (PIA) -- The country’s newly-acquired Hamilton navy ship, BRP Gregorio del Pilar, will be equipped with four (4) helicopters according to Commodore Joseph Rustom O. Peña of the Naval Forces West (Navforwest).
He said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is already in the process of acquiring four helicopters which will have more sophisticated and advanced features and more reliability if compared to the existing Hueys that are being used.

Puerto Princesa City (8 December) -- A one billion peso hydro electric power plant will be constructed next year in Puerto Princesa City benefitting about 30,000 households. This is the first hydro project to be built under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.
The hydro power plant will be developed by the Langogan Power Corporation which received in February this year an accreditation from the Department of Energy for 2 hydropower projects, the Langogan and Batang Batang projects.

Puerto Princesa City (12 November) -- The City Council of Puerto Princesa is banning cyber pornography and cyber prostitutions as it amended ordinance 200-2002 regulating the operation of computer game shops, and parlors, internet cafes and funhouses in the city.
According to Councilor Luis Marcaida III, author of the said ordinance, it aims to prepare the city and its constituents on distracting form of exploitations and related crimes brought by improper use of internet technology.

Puerto Princesa City (13 April) -- The Department of Energy (DOE) recently confirmed that renewable energy (RE) projects specifically hydroelectric and geothermal power projects are in the pipeline and would soon provide new source of energy in Palawan and Puerto Princesa City.
This was disclosed recently by DOE Assistant Director Jess Anunciacion who spoke in a recent forum on the Philippine Energy Efficiency Plan in Puerto Princesa City. He said that Palawan and the city have vast potentials in the development of its renewable energy resources.
