PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, March 14 (PIA) -- Western Command (WESCOM) will celebrate its 36th founding anniversary tomorrow, March 15.

The commemorative celebration will start with a simple thanksgiving mass, followed by a flag raising ceremony in front of the Headquarters building. The formal anniversary program will be done at WESCOM gymnasium.

Other activities to be held in line with the anniversary celebration of the command include the blessings of the newly renovated barracks and newly acquired speed boats.

Yesterday, all officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees gathered at the WESCOM parade ground near the Western Front Golf Course, WESCOM Complex, for the livelihood opening of cassava planting, goat and duck raising.

Today, a biking activity for health dubbed as “Padyak para sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran” led by WESCOM Commander LtGen. Juancho M. Sabban was conducted. The activity aims to promote healthy lifestyle through active sports biking.

Troops from the different services of WESCOM and other bikers from private groups and individuals participated in this activity.

This also serves as a wake-up call to the local populace to take an active part in the government’s goal of winning a lasting peace and ensuring a sustainable development for the community. (6CRG/TBO/OCJ-PIA4B Palawan)
