PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, June 5 (PNA) -- Residents in this city and Palawan led by Mayor Edward Hagedorn will join in the celebration of World Environment Day starting June 5-8, 2008.

At exactly 5 p.m. today, there will be a \"world walk\" from seven points of origin around the city representing the seven continents of the world to converge at the city\'s Mendoza Park.

The continents are Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, North America and Antarctic.

On June 8 at 1 p.m., a \"Green Expo sa Puerto\" is likewise scheduled at the city coliseum.

Lectures and symposia, together with other activities will be held in the said day.

Hagedorn, a known environmentalist, also joined the call of Environment Secretary Lito Atienza in urging Filipinos to protect the environment and value the natural resources, particularly water. (PNA)
