THE LONG time champion, Puerto Princesa Sepak Takraw team remained unbeatable in the secondary Takraw beating closest rival, Palawan team in the crowd-drawing championship game at Mendoza Park, April 9.

Tension and too much excitement filled in the court as the battle began.

Beaming with stunts from the very beginning, the excellent and spirited Puerto Princesans released their tedious kicks, tremendous tosses, astonishing spikes and superb blocks until the fourth set. The game resulted to 4-0 domination (21-15, 21-9, 21-6, and 21-20), giving no chance to the opponent to win even a single set.

The confident players namely; Ronsited Gabayeron, Sid Estrera, Jeferd Rugay, Japeth Barbosa, John Geremson Frago, Marion John Duran, Dominador Frago, Regim Molejon Michael Angelo Zumaraga, John Jeffrey Villaverde, Jordan Reynante and Choko Paulo Paliza composed the victorious team. Coach Camilo Apdon supervised the team.

Villaverde told Flashes, “Faith in God, teamwork, determination and year-round training” are the team’s strengths while “lack of defense” is their weakness.

Palawan landed on the second place, Occidental Mindoro third, while Oriental Mindoro and Marinduque on the fourth and fifth place respectively.
