Chinese delegation visits city

A DELEGATION from Beihai City, China today visited Puerto Princesa City to get a first hand experience of the “City in a Forest” and to personally present an invitation to the 2010 ASEAN Mayor\'s Forum to be held next month in Beihai.

The Beihai delegation, headed by Huang Shulu, vice chairman of Beihai Committee of the Chinese People\'s Political Consultative Conference, was given a warm welcome by the City Government of Puerto Princesa headed by Vice Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron at a sumptuous dinner and cultural show at the Asturias Hotel last night.

The delegation was given a short video presentation introducing Puerto Princesa City, and were given a slight glimpse of the multitude of projects, programs and awards of the City both locally and internationally.

The delegation included Xu Xiyong, Beihai Finance Bureau General; He Feng Guo, deputy director of the Construction and Administrative Committee, Office of Beihai Beibu Gulf Economic Zone; Huang Zhoungdong, vice director general of the Beihai Economic Development Committee; and Ellen Lei, Section Chief of Beihai Foreign Affairs Office, who also acted as the translator.

The 2010 ASEAN Mayor’s Forum on Pan-Beibu Gulf Regional Economic Cooperation is an event for Beihai and its sister cities as well as other cities from ASEAN countries to establish links and share development opportunities. Beihai had been host to the ASEAN Mayor’s Forum in 2007 and 2009.
